24 hours residential care is provided for both Short and Long term, Care Treatment. There are Separate blocks of Accommodation for males and females. Various kinds of accommodation is available, depending upon the patient’s Psychological/ Physical condition and Choice of the patient/ family – like Single bedrooms, two, three, four bedded rooms and multiple occupancy Dormitories. Rooms are spacious, well ventilated and bright. Generator Power Supply is available round the clock in case of emergencies of power failures; toilet and bathroom facilities with 24 hours water supply are provided. Recreational facilities like news papers, magazines and televisions are supplied proportionately in each House. Single rooms are furnished with extra large sized beds, a cupboard, set of chairs with a centre table, a T.V with cable connection, etc. Air conditioning can also be provided on request from the family. The clean and well equipped kitchen and beautifully arranged dining halls have been set up to provide the residents with timely food and refreshments. Laundry facility is available for those who are not able to wash clothes on their own.


24 hours ambulance service is helpful in dealing with any kind of medical emergency where the residents require specialized emergency medical care in outside hospitals.

Computer Facility

The computer lab is arranged with the aim of providing opportunities for computer education and refreshing the knowledge of computers of the residents.

Fully equipped gymnasium is available in the centre with separate timing for women and men.

LCD Projector Movie Shows

All the new Hindi and English movies are enjoyed on the big screen LCD projector available at all the centers.

Library and Reading Facilities

There is a collection of reading material set up for the residents who can borrow books, magazines and periodicals during their leisure time after 4.30 pm. Residents are given the responsibility of maintaining the library transactions in rotation.

Dining Area

A combination of Indian cuisine is available daily, with a standardized, specific meal plan that provides minimum of 2500 calories of nutritional requirement per day. We have special menus for festivals and occasions, eatables are provided from outside on request of the family. The food menu of Chaitanya’s each branches are different according to the nature of the food habit of each states.

Picnic and Outing

Regular picnics to various interesting sites in and around Pune, overnight camps in beautiful locations are arranged regularly for the residents. They are often taken out for movies, lunch / Dine outs, etc.


The core team of Chaitanya includes trained mental health Professionals like Psychiatric Social Workers, Resident Doctors, Psychiatrists, General Physicians, Psychologists, Occupational Therapists and Nurses. A team of Residential Psychiatric Social Workers with Masters Degree in Psychiatric Social Work (MSW) take care of the psychosocial management aspects with the day-to-day activities of the centre. Psychiatrists, house doctors and the trained Psychiatric Nurses are there to carry out the Pharmacological intervention and Medical management. Beside this adequate number of visiting Medical and Paramedical specialists, Staff Assistants, Administrative staff, Cooks, Home Nurses and other Housekeeping supportive Staff are there to make the day-to-day function of the centre systematic and effective.


Chaitanya provides training for volunteers and professionals to work with the mentally ill. Various University Departments, from different parts of the country have been sending their students to Chaitanya for clinical exposure, concurrent and block field work placements. Students can send their requests for undergoing training/fieldwork through their respective Departments to Chaitanya.
